Soham P. Patel, MBBS, MD, FACE, DipABLM

Board Certified Endocrinologist & Lifestyle Medicine Physician in Tampa, FL


Dr.Patel was born and brought up in western state of India called Gujarat, in the city of Ahmedabad. He did his medical school at one of the premier institution B.J. Medical College, Ahmedabad that was founded in 1879.

He graduated from medical school in 2008 and came to United States to pursue further training. He did his Internal Medicine Residency at University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee, graduating in 2013. His interest in Endocrinology was kindled by a group of exceptional mentors at the Division of Endocrinology At University of Tennessee. Pursuing his interest in hormones and intricate functioning of the human biology, he completed a clinical endocrinology fellowship at the prestigious University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2015.

Dr.Patel moved to Tampa Bay area right after graduating from fellowship in 2015 and worked at an Endocrinology private practice in Brandon, Florida till August 2018.

With his passion to provide individualized care for his patients and incorporating nutrition as a cornerstone of his treatment strategy, Dr.Patel set up Center for Preventive Endocrinology and Nutrition in fall of 2018.

He is triple board certified in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism and Lifestyle Medicine. He spends a significant chunk of time to keep updated with latest in nutrition research along with attending international conferences on nutrition every year. He is also Certified Clinical Densitometrist (CCD) by the International Society of Clinical Densitometry. He has also been inducted as a Fellow of American College of Endocrinology (FACE).

He is an active member of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, The Endocrine Society, American College of Lifestyle Medicine, Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine and Florida Medical Association. He gives talks at local Churches on different aspects of Endocrinology from time to time and also is part of community health fairs taking place periodically.

He walks the talk with pursuing a healthy and active lifestyle himself and inspires his family, friends and patients to do the same.
In his free time, he likes to read, enjoy playing his keyboard, gardening and spending time with his family.

Karen A. Laing is a compassionate and experienced healthcare professional dedicated to promoting health and preventing disease through holistic care and lifestyle interventions. A native of the Washington, D.C., area, she has over 20 years of experience in nursing and wellness coaching, working with diverse patient populations to improve cardiovascular and overall health.
Karen completed her undergraduate nursing education at the University of Maryland at Baltimore and earned a Master of Science in Health Promotion Management from Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia. She later became a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES). Throughout her career, Karen has worked in surgical intensive care units and cardiopulmonary rehabilitation centers, including the Washington Hospital Center and Washington Adventist Hospital in Washington, D.C., and Henrico Doctors’ Hospital, Retreat Hospital, and St. Mary’s Hospital in Richmond, Virginia.
In 2015, Karen relocated to the Tampa Bay area and transitioned into health promotion and Nurse Coaching. Through the American Holistic Nurses Credentialing Corporation, she became a Holistic Nurse Baccalaureate Board Certified (HN-BC) in 2016 and a Nurse Coach Board Certified (NC-BC) in 2019. She holds the distinction of Health and Wellness Nurse Coach Board Certified (HWNC-BC). Passionate about helping clients minimize medications and avoid heart disease, Karen founded All Heart Coaching in 2017.
As a Diplomate of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine (ACLM), Karen’s commitment to lifestyle interventions to improve health led to her partnership with Dr. Patel, with whom she shares a vision of individualized, holistic care. Karen’s desire to deepen her impact on her clients led her to pursue her Master of Science in Nursing as an Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner through the University of South Florida (USF). She is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Corporation and holds an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license in Florida. Additionally, she is a Fellow of the Preventive Cardiovascular Nurses Association (FPCNA).
Karen has authored and co-authored several publications on the health benefits of lifestyle interventions. She is currently completing her Doctorate in Nursing Practice at USF and is an active member of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, the Preventive Cardiovascular Nurses Association, and the Tampa chapter of the American Holistic Nurses Association.
Outside of her professional endeavors, Karen enjoys spending time with her husband, two adult children, and two dogs. She loves experimenting with new recipes, exploring new places, spending time by the water, and gathering with friends.
Karen enjoys working alongside Dr. Patel to provide personalized, holistic care that empowers patients to live healthier lives.
